It is worth noting that if you or your child have DLA or PIP many attractions, including days out and theatre visits, offer FREE CARER admission. This can be such a help to reducing the cost, and also make you feel much better about trying a new activity, when you are not sure it will last the full session!
Before you book for an event get into the habit of asking if they offer a carer discount as most places do (you just need to take proof of disability via DLA, PIP letter).
Some places like the cinema or theatre have registration procedure for a specific scheme to register for access support, including free carer. The theatres have an access scheme that you register with and provide your evidence and then your details are held on the system, meaning you don’t have to keep showing evidence every time you wish to purchase tickets.

CEA Card (Cinema Free carer card)
This is available for those over 8 years of age who are in receipt of DLA or PIP. It costs £6 and then entitles you to take a carer FREE with you to the cinema. Most cinemas require you to have one of these cards to enable you to get a free carer ticket and don’t just allow you to show your DLA/PIP letter at the venue.
